| So I just realized it's been more than a month since I posted... but now I am. =) So my family and I are leaving on friday for two weeks! We're going up to Washington to visit friends and family, and then to Oregon to Cannon Beach, a christian conference. We've been going to Cannon Beach for the last 11 years... so many great memories made there. I'm really looking forward to Seattle...my older bro and I are planning on meeting up with some old friends there for a day. Hopefully I'll have some pictures to share. Anyway... I was reading a book my little brother (5) has... "Poems and Prayers for the Very Young".. my goodness, kids books used to be so amazing! This one was no exception... I have to share one of the poems. It made me happy. =) I told the sun that I was glad, I'm sure I don't know why; Somehow the pleasant way he had Of shining in the sky, Just put a notion in my head That wouldn't it be fun If, walking on the hill, I said "I'm happy" to the sun. I'm going to try it some time... it sounds pretty awesome. Hope all of you (whoever it is that is reading this) have a great week and rest of the summer! God bless! Brooklin | | |
| Hey everyone! So, summer is pretty much here for me. =) I'll be doing biology labs over the next few months with some family friends, but overall I'm free. XD A lot is happening... I think the most amazing thing in life is when we can see God moving. That's what's going on. A friend of mine is getting together a group to go out (hopefully) weekly to witness. Be praying that the Lord will work through us!!! I'm really psyched about it... there's nothing more exciting than sharing the gift that we have. Here's a video I found about evangelism...it's really encouraging, and so true. Sure, the acting is a bit cheesey, but the point is still there. Snap, the code didn't work to get in here, but here's the link: http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=a79e78aaeda80516ae2a On another note...I was discussing the purpose of the Bible study I go to with another friend of mine. I believe that sort of Bible study... the one we have here, is for strengthening us in our own faith. That's why the girls and guys seperate... we can be accountable to one another, and encourage each other. I joined the Bible study (aka SNBSATK) last September...it's been amazing. We recently started 1 John. Read it. Right now. Seriously. =) Anyway, we were talking about how another important part of being a Believer is knowing how to combat word religions and belief systems. While I DO believe that is VERY important, I don't think it's what the purpose behind Bible study should be. Basically we disagreed on the importance of different topics at Bible study. Long story short, he is going to start Bible study/Truth project meetings at his house, and he asked me to help lead it. Be praying for him, myself, and anyone who will be participating! I know a lot of the topics will be controversial, and I'm praying that we will all be able to discuss the subjects without causing tension, and that we will all come away with a better understanding of the topic and why or why not some believe it. One last prayer request: A friend of mine recently brought someone to Christ. She was out witnessing in Santa Monica, and starting talking to Manuel. After sharing the Gospel, and discussing various aspects of it with him, she asked Manuel if he wanted to accept Christ. At first he said no, but after two more times of asking him, she asked him what was holding him back. (Drugs, partying, sleeping with his girlfriend, accepting God as authority). Manuel said it was all of those. She asked him if all that was worth giving up God and eternal salvation, and instead recieving eternal punishment. He said no, and she prayed with him. BE PRAYING FOR MANUEL!!! Seeing something like that get's me SO excited!! We have glorious hope in Christ, and WE get to be the messengers for Him!! What an amazing honor!! Well, I hope all of you are doing great! Hope to hear from you! (And really, read 1 John. Right now. =) In Christ, Brooklin | | |
| So, God is A-mazing. Simple as that. I'm sure most of you reading this (if anyone is, in fact, reading this) already know this to be true, but it's great to just stop for a bit and really think...God is amazing. We would literally be nothing and nowhere without Him. He created this mind-boggling Universe...and WE screwed it up..then He sent Christ, who went through the greatest suffering imaginable to save us. Out of love. Can you say, "wow"? =) Basically that's it... just wanted to share His greatness. =) Keep it Ringle! Every blessing You pour out I'll Turn back to praise And when the darkness closes in, Lord Still I will say Blessed be the name of the Lord Blessed be Your name | | |
| So it's been five days...not a whole long time, but I have some updates, stories, and prayer requests. =) 1) Our car is incinerated. We were at Costco, my mom was waiting in the car with my two little brothers while my sisters and I ran in. When we came back out, our car was up in flames. Like, really up. =) My mom had gotten my bro's out when she saw smoke... apparently it was something electrical. And she saved my math book. Blah. Gotta hand it to the homeschool mom. =) 2) Our church had a potluck type thing-ish yesterday... I was passing by upstairs, and there was a group of 5 or 6 younger girls playing a Bible trivia game on some sort of console. The question was something about a Prophetess; after arguing for a minute or two about the answer, one of the girls piped up, "Go get a Bible so we can cheat!" Oximoron. Ironic. But hilarious. =) 3) Math is not my friend. There's not really much more I need to say here... especially graphs. I think some public school teacher made it up just to mess with student's minds. Blah. =) 4) Be praying for a guy named Jamie! He's a Jehovah's Witness, and I've talked with him a couple times. He's been a JW pretty much his whole life, and from his arguments I don't really see him coming to know the Truth; but only God knows. Be praying for him. Also keep in your prayers a friend of mine. I met her at a Christian camp a couple years ago, but I was recently talking to her, and she literally said "F the faith". Please pray that she'll come back to Christ! Finally, a Word from our Savior! "For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds." -Titus 2:11-14 Hope you had and will have a great week! God bless! -Brooklin/Nashlin/Brookey Wookims/Nash Brooks/Pocahontas/Nashland/Estuary/Nash p.s. I got a bit more photos...and finally got a display pic! yay me... | | |
| It's odd, but for some reason I get the feeling I need to update just because I havn't for awhile...not neccasarily because I have something important to say or because I need to... so I'm updating. =) I guess I have a few ranom things to share: I tried my hand at Haiku a few years ago...crashed and burned. =P But this was written up on the chalkboard in my math class this morning. Thought it was pretty funny: Haikus are dumb Because they put limits On syllables used. On a different note... I was recently reminded (by a quote I read) that sharing our faith is a win/win situation. If we share and the person repents and is saved, we've "won" one for God. If a seed is planted, then we still win because we have done what Christ called us to do. If we are rejected and cursed, then we STILL win, because Christ has told us we would be persecuted...and by sharing our faith, we are building our treasure in heaven. So whatever we do, if it is done for GOD, we win. I don't know about you, but that was totally encouraging for me.
